What are the most common therapies for Premature Ejaculation?
Currently, there are three common types of methods to address Premature Ejaculation: SSRIs (Antidepressants), PDE-5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction drugs), and topical creams/gels.
- SSRIs- SSRI stands for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. It is a class of antidepressant medications that work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, which is a chemical messenger that plays a crucial role in mood regulation, sleep, and overall emotional well-being.
- PDE-5 inhibitors- PDE-5 inhibitors, or phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors, are a class of medications commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and, in some cases, other medical conditions. These inhibitors work by blocking the action of phosphodiesterase-5, an enzyme that plays a role in the regulation of blood flow.
- Topical gels/creams use
